The Ocean to Sound Relay will take place on September 25 this year. There are around 100 teams of eight runners participating each year. Each runner runs 5.5 to 7 miles. The relay starts at Jones Beach State Park and finishes in the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park in Oyster Bay. (The exact course is announced few days before the relay). There are many different categories for teams including open, masters, senior masters, corporate, law enforcement/firefighter, physically challenged, and funniest costumes. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the beneficiary.

There is an excellent party after the race and an award ceremony, which went terribly wrong last year (2010) for many teams and ours was one of them. Although the results listed us at the third place, some other team was awarded plaques and we have never received an explanation what had happened.

The entry fee for the Ocean to Sound Relay is $360 per team ($45 per runner) through September 18, 2011.  After September 18, 2011, it is $400 per team.
