How to Write In a School Board Candidate in Malverne School District 12
The school district 12 encompasses Malverne, Lynbrook North, and Lakeview. There was the school budget vote taking place on May 17th. It was also a vote for a board trustee. The incumbent ran unopposed. After the registration deadline, Donald Pupke asked to be a write-in candidate. Once the write-in candidate has been announced, the write-in instructions started circulating. At the election booth, I realized they were partially incorrect. I am posting them so they are handy, if they are needed next time.
- Close the curtain, locate the write-in slot at the top left. See the index finger holding theĀ lid up. Some voters experienced a brown instead of white paper.
- Open the slot by sliding the lid up and hold it in position.
- Write in the name in pencil. Drop the lid. The black slanted lids to the right of the slot were blocked off. Although the write-in instructions placed in the booth were describing them.
If the panel looks different, or you have any questions or doubt, ask the poll watchers to show you how to write in a name. This must be done BEFORE you close the curtain.
