2009 NYC Marathon Long Training Run 6
I drove to my daughter’s school prepared for 3 different activities I would perform depending on weather conditions—my civil clothes should she have a field day, my running clothes if it drizzled, and the laptop in case of a heavy rain. By the time I arrived, it was raining, so the field day was out of question. The school set various stations inside of every bigger room available and volunteers from Goldman Sachs were attending them. They didn’t need any additional body filling up the room. The rain was continuous, yet not heavy, so I decided to run. Due to the rain I had to avoid the beginning 0.75 mile of the trail from Evelyn Dr. That part always becomes a muddy path. I drove closer to the Bethpage park where woods reach to the road. I added equal distance at the opposite end of the path near the Sunrise highway. I can’t compare the time of 1:45 achieved on the altered course of 14.25 miles with the other times of previous long runs. Yet, it represents a solid training pace of 7:24 min./mile. The temperature of 59° with the drizzle felt very comfortable.
