St Raymond’s Track Meet Summary
The St Raymond track meet, the first meet of the season, was a great success for most of our teams. And even the mixed teams didn’t do badly. It’s rather an exception to create a team on the spot that would perform well. It will get better as the season progresses. Let me express our appreciation to all parents helping us keep the kids organized in that Babylon. Time permitting I was snapping photos that you can see on the following page.
Yet, first I would like to comment on the organization. The tentative number of events proved to be rather overly ambitious. There were not enough volunteer walkers, and, on the contrary, there were too many bystanders in the infield preventing the starter and flag referees to establish a visual contact. Imagine, if each of them had to make just few steps aside every time a heat started, it certainly added up many minutes given the number of heats. We discussed it after the meet and we will take steps to limit such problems during our home meet on May 23rd.
The following photos are from the afternoon program only. Parents, feel free to e-mail me your own photos and I’ll add them. Also, do not hesitate to download the photos you see, as I’ll take most of them off in order to save space for additional meets. Clicking on the thumbnail will open a larger slide. Then, clicking a side of a photo will open either the next or previous photo. Enjoy.
