The relay started at Jones Beach State Park and proceded up to Cedar Creek Park, and then through Seaford, Massapequa, Farmingdale, Old Bethpage, Huntington, Cold Spring Harbor, Syosset and Oyster Bay Cove. The race finish was at Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park in Oyster Bay. The Bethpage Federal Credit Union was sponsoring the relay.
It was my 5th participation in row in this 50-mile relay of 8-member teams. There were 144 teams that finished the Ocean to Sound relay in 2012. As in previous years, I ran for one of the Lynbrook Runner’s Stop teams—mixed masters—consisting of 4 women and 4 men. And it was a strong team. We placed 17 OA and 1st in our category. Our total time was 5:44:13, an average pace of 7:01 min./mile.
We put the strongest guy in the opening leg at the Jones Beach. I ran leg 7 (7 miles). The same leg, I ran the first time I participated in this relay in 2008. The table shows results in individual legs. This year was the 27th anniversary of the Ocean to Sound relay.
